Puerto Rico scores two in 5th to beat South Korea, 6-4

The start to the game between Radames Lopez Little League from Guayaman, Puerto Rico and West Seoul Little League from Seoul, South Korea was not pretty.  Puerto Rico entered the top of the 5th with a 4-1 lead, with the 5 runs being scored by way of a walk, error, wild pitch, another error, and a hit-by-pitch.

South Korea stormed back in the 5th to scores three runs, which included a 2-run single by Min-Jae Lee, to tie the score at 4-4.

But Edwin Sanchez hit an RBI-double, which was immediately followed by an RBI-single from Pedro Gonzalez to give Puerto Rico a 6-4 lead which would ultimately be the final score.

John Bermudez was 2-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs, and an RBI for Puerto Rico.  Edwin Sanchez was dominant on the mound, pitching the first complete game of the tournament, giving up 0 earned runs, 2 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 5.

Puerto Rico will play next on Saturday, August 5th at 1PM PST in the International Championship game on ESPN3.

South Korea will play its next game on Thursday August 3rd at 3pm PST.
