Day 4 Recap: Curacao and Hawaii stay alive, while South Korea and Florida advance to semi-finals

On another perfect Livermore day, we had two elimination games as well as two games pairing undefeated teams

In the 9am game, Curacao matched up with Canada, with the winner staying alive while the loser was to be eliminated.  Curacao scored 3 runs in each of the first 3 innings and beat Canada 10-7. Merilon Wolff was 1-2 at the plate with a home run, and Raysel Servinus pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win.

Curacao will face Puerto Rico on Thursday at 3pm with the winner advancing to the International Championship game on Saturday.

In the noon game, Hawaii scored 5 runs in the fifth to cruise to a 11-1 win over Indiana, winning their second straight game in the elimination bracket. Haku Dudoit went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 4 runs scored, and Lee Souza dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout, giving up only 3 hits.

Hawaii will try to make it three in a row Thursday at 6pm against the Host CA District 57 Tassajara Valley team.

Two undefeated teams squared off in our 3pm game, and South Korea exploded for 9 runs in the last three innings to break open a tight game and beat Puerto Rico 12-2 to advance to the International Championship Game on Saturday at 1pm.
Han Lee led the offense was 2-2 with a home run, 3 walks and 3 runs scored. Minjoon Cho was 3-4 with a run scored.

Puerto Rico will play Curacao Thursday at 3pm, where a win would earn them a rematch with South Korea on Saturday

In the final game of the day, Florida used a 2-run homer by Matthew Binder in the second inning to beat the previously unbeaten host CA District 57 team 2-0. Florida displayed dominant pitching and defense led by “Sugaa” Kane Piccininni (3 2/3 inning, 6 K’s, 0 hits) and Vince Gallo (1-3 at the plate, 1 IP and caught as well).

Florida advances to the US Championship Game at 5pm Saturday.
Host CA District 57 will play Thursday at 6pm against Hawaii, with the winner advancing to play with Florida on Saturday.
