Host Danville Jumps to Early Lead; Beats Texas 6-1

Danville Little League scored 5 runs in the first two innings, and their pitchers shut down Western Little League from San Angelo, Texas for a 6-1 win.  The Host team from Danville Little League is now 2-0, and headed to the winner’s bracket championship game on Wednesday for the second straight year.

Manager Jim Grant called this a complete win, with the offense putting pressure on Texas, along with fantastic pitching.

The two Danville pitchers, Tyler Beach and Tyler Wood, limited Texas to only 3 hits while surrendering only 1 walk.  Tyler Beach said that his curve ball was working well today, and both Tyler’s got ahead in the count for most of the day.

At the plate, Danville made the most of their 6 hits to score their 6 runs.  Noah Garcia was the offensive star, going 2-3 with two run-scoring singles in the first two innings.  Matthew Abbes also had 2 RBI’s.  Danville also stole 8 bases for the game.

Noah said he “feels a little like a celebrity” with all the fans and atmosphere around the event.

Danville will play its next game game on Wednesday August 2nd at 6pm PST against Hawaii.
Texas will play next on Tuesday August 1st at 3pm PST in an elimination game against Florida.
