Puerto Rico comes back to beat Latin America, 8-5

In the second game of the 2017 Intermediate World Series, Radames Lopez Little League from Guayama, Puerto Rico came back from an early 3-0 deficit to beat Cacique Mara Little League from Maracaibo, Venezuela.

Eight different Puerto Rico players had a hit, and Yadiel Torres and Jorge Rodriguez each had 2 RBI’s. On the mound, Peter Vaquez allowed only 2 hits and no runs in 3 innings of work. ┬áPeter said his curve ball was his pitch today.

Manager Torres believes that the close games in the Puerto Rico regional has helped his team. They faced several close games in their own regional tournament, winning their last three games by scores of 4-3, 4-2 and 4-3.

For Venzuela, Jackson Chourio hit the first home run of the 2017 tournament over the right field fence. Elizar Castillo went 2-2 with 2 RBI’s, and Luis Fuenmayor also went 2-2 with 2 runs scored.

Puerto Rico plays next on Monday July 31st at 12pm PST against Canada.

Venezuela will play next on Tuesday August 1st at 12pm PST against France.
